Import a do-not-contact (suppression) list

Bulk-upload addresses that should never receive messages so every future Broadcast automatically skips them. Suppression works account-wide: once an address is on the list, no Author can send to it, regardless of which Folder or audience the Edition draws from.

Before you begin

  • Confirm you have permission to manage account-wide suppression. This is usually an admin-level task (confirm the exact steps in your account).
  • Prepare a file of the addresses to suppress. A single-column CSV of email addresses (or phone numbers for SMS) is the safest format. Include a header row if the importer expects one.
  • Clean the file first: remove blank rows, trim spaces, and de-duplicate. Invalid or malformed entries are typically skipped and reported.
  • Decide the reason or category if the importer supports one (for example, unsubscribed, complaint, or bounced) so the entries are labeled consistently.

Steps

  1. Open the account-wide suppression list from your admin or deliverability settings.
  2. Choose the option to import or bulk-add addresses.
  3. Upload your prepared file and, if prompted, map the address column and select a suppression reason.
  4. Review the preview or validation summary, which shows how many rows will be added and how many were skipped.
  5. Confirm the import. (Confirm the exact button labels and menu paths in your account.)

Result

The addresses are added to the account-wide suppression list and are excluded from all future Broadcasts. Spot-check by searching for a known address in the list, and review the import summary for any rows that were rejected so you can correct and re-import them.
