This is the single source of truth for terminology. Where the app or a brand skin shows a different label, the canonical term is listed here and the label is noted as a synonym. When writing docs, always use the canonical term.
Canonical decisions (applied across all docs):
- The recipient of a message is a subscriber (not "contact").
- Single sign-on is SSO (use "sign-on" only as casual prose, never as a feature name).
- The AI "brevity" rewrite tool is Rewrite for Brevity (avoid the third-party trademark "Smart Brevity").
- The Microsoft identity product is Microsoft Entra ID (not the retired "Azure AD").
- Folder is the only content-organization container. Workspace refers only to an account-level boundary — see its entry.
