Send a Test Before You Broadcast
A test send delivers a working copy of your Edition to a small set of addresses so you can check how it renders and reads in a real inbox before you Broadcast it to subscribers. Testing catches broken links, missing images, layout problems, and unresolved personalization before they reach your audience.
Before you begin
- An Edition that is finished enough to review, saved in its Project Folder.
- The email addresses of your reviewers (including yourself). Consider testing across a few clients — desktop, mobile, and webmail — since rendering varies.
- If your Edition uses personalization, have a test subscriber or sample data ready so tokens resolve instead of showing as raw tags. (confirm the exact steps in your account)
Steps
- Open the Edition you want to check from its Project Folder.
- Choose the test (or preview) send option for the Edition. (confirm the exact steps in your account)
- Enter one or more reviewer email addresses, separating multiple addresses as your account requires.
- If prompted, pick a test subscriber or sample record so personalization tokens render with real values.
- Send the test, then open it in each reviewer inbox.
Result
Each reviewer receives a copy of the Edition. Confirm the subject line, preheader, images, links, and personalization all appear correctly, and that the layout holds up on both desktop and mobile. Fix anything that looks wrong in the Edition and re-test until it's clean — a test send does not count as a Broadcast and is not delivered to subscribers.
