Select the Audience at Send Time

When you turn an Edition into a Broadcast, you decide exactly who receives it. You can send to one or more subscriber lists, to a Folder of recipients, or to a targeted segment built from subscriber attributes. This page walks through choosing the audience during the send flow.

Before you begin

  • The Edition should be finished and ready to send (content reviewed, links checked, test message sent to yourself).
  • Confirm the subscriber lists or Folders you want to reach already exist and are populated. If you still need to collect recipients, see Build an audience.
  • Know whether any recipients should be excluded (for example, a hold-out group). Account-wide unsubscribes and bounces are handled automatically by the suppression list.

Steps

  1. Open the finished Edition and start the send flow (typically a Send or Broadcast action). (confirm the exact steps in your account)
  2. In the audience step, choose the source of your recipients — one or more subscriber lists, a Project Folder, or a saved segment.
  3. Add any additional lists or Folders if the Broadcast should reach more than one group. Recipients who appear on multiple lists are de-duplicated so each subscriber receives a single copy.
  4. Apply any include or exclude rules to narrow the audience (for example, exclude a suppression segment or limit to a region).
  5. Review the estimated recipient count shown before you continue. If the number looks wrong, revisit your list or segment selection.
  6. Continue to scheduling and confirmation to complete the Broadcast.

Result

The audience step shows the final recipient count for the Broadcast, and your selected lists, Folders, or segments are locked in for this send. Suppressed and duplicate addresses are removed automatically, so the count reflects who will actually receive the message.
