Insert Personalization Tokens

Personalization tokens are placeholders you drop into an Edition — such as a subscriber's first name, company, or job title — that are replaced with each subscriber's own data when the Broadcast is sent. One Edition, many personalized versions.

Before you begin

• Open the Edition you want to personalize in the editor.
• Confirm the subscriber fields you plan to use (for example first name, company) actually contain data for your audience. Tokens only fill in where a value exists.
• Decide on a fallback (default) value for tokens that may be empty, so a blank space or "there" appears instead of nothing.
• Know your token syntax. Tokens are typically inserted from a menu rather than typed by hand — (confirm the exact steps in your account).

Steps

1. Place your cursor in the subject line or body where the value should appear.
2. Open the personalization menu in the editor toolbar and choose the field you want (for example First Name).
3. The token is inserted at your cursor, for example Hi {{FirstName}},. See personalization tags for the exact tokens available.
4. Set a fallback for any token that could be empty, so the sentence still reads well — for example Hi {{FirstName|there}},.
5. Repeat for each place you want personalized content, then send yourself a seed or preview to a test subscriber.

Result

In the preview, each token shows the test subscriber's real value (or your fallback). When you send the Broadcast, every subscriber receives their own version.
