Add Audio or a Podcast to an Edition
Add an audio clip or podcast episode to an Edition so subscribers can listen inline, with a player that falls back gracefully in email clients that block interactive media.
Before you begin
- An Edition open for editing in a Project Folder you can access.
- Your audio file (or a hosted URL). Common formats are MP3 and, for podcasts, an episode file or feed link. (Confirm supported formats and size limits in your account.)
- Cover art or a still image to show while the audio loads or when a client cannot play it inline.
- A short fallback link (for example, a landing page) for subscribers whose email client blocks embedded audio.
Steps
- Open the Edition and place your cursor where the audio should appear, then insert an audio (or podcast) interactive block. (Confirm the exact block name and menu path in your account.)
- Upload your audio file or paste the hosted URL. For a podcast, add the episode title and, if available, the feed or episode link.
- Set a poster image or cover art so the block looks intentional before playback and in non-playing clients.
- Configure player options such as autoplay off (recommended), show/hide controls, and display duration.
- Add a fallback: a visible Listen link that opens the audio or a hosted page, so no subscriber is left with a blank space.
- Add descriptive alt text or a caption for accessibility, then preview and send a test to yourself.
Result
In supported clients, subscribers see the player and can listen inline. In clients that block embedded media, they see your poster image and the fallback link instead. Confirm both by checking the preview and a real inbox test across a webmail and a desktop client.
