Add a Countdown Timer to an Edition
A countdown timer shows a live "time remaining" display in your email that ticks down toward a fixed date and time — useful for sale end dates, registration deadlines, and event start times. This guide covers setting the target, styling the timer, and placing it in an Edition.
Before you begin
- An Edition open in the editor, inside the Folder where you're building it.
- The exact target date, time, and time zone you're counting down to.
- The image or block content you want the timer to sit alongside (optional).
- Permission to edit Editions in your account. (Confirm the exact steps in your account.)
Steps
- Open the Edition and place your cursor where the timer should appear, then add the Countdown Timer content block from the editor's block or content menu. (Confirm the exact block name in your account.)
- Set the target date and time, and choose the time zone so every subscriber sees the countdown resolve at the same real-world moment.
- Style the timer: pick the units to show (days, hours, minutes, seconds), and set fonts, colors, and background to match your brand.
- Add fallback text or an expiry message for when the countdown reaches zero, so the block still reads well after the deadline.
- Preview the Edition to check the timer renders and the remaining time looks correct, then save.
Result
The Edition displays a live countdown that updates each time a subscriber opens the email, counting down to your target moment. Send a test to yourself to confirm the timer image loads and the time remaining is accurate before you Broadcast.
